UBA6 (UBE1L2, MOP-4)는 유비퀴틴 활성화 효소(E1) 패밀리에 속하는 새로운 E1 효소로, 유비퀴틴(Ub)을 기질 단백질에 공유적으로 결합시키는 과정의 일부입니다. UBA6은 유비퀴틴의 카복시 말단 글라이신 잔기를 ATP로 아데닐화한 후, E1의 시스테인 잔기와 결합하여 유비퀴틴-E1 티오에스터와 AMP를 형성합니다. 이 효소의 아이소폼은 정자형성과 남성 생식력에 영향을 미치며, 인간 단핵세포에서 높은 발현을 보입니다.
