Target Information
The COG8 gene encodes a protein that is part of the conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex. This multiprotein complex plays a structural role in the Golgi apparatus and participates in intracellular membrane trafficking and glycoprotein modification.
Mutations in this gene cause congenital disorder of glycosylation, type IIh, characterized by under-glycosylated serum proteins and symptoms such as severe psychomotor retardation, failure to thrive, seizures, and intolerance to dairy and wheat products.
