This antibody detects endogenous levels of total VANGL1.
Target Information
Vang-like 1 protein is a human homologue of Drosophila Van Gogh/Strabismus. The Vang-like 1 gene consists of at least seven exons and encodes a protein with four transmembrane domains and a C-terminal Ser/Thr-X-Val motif.
Studies have shown that VANGL1 expression is significantly upregulated in gastric cancer (MKN28, MKN74) and pancreatic cancer cell lines (BxPC-3, PSN-1, Hs766T).
The protein may act as an effector mediating intestinal trefoil factor (ITF) healing responses and serves as a diagnostic marker for hepatocellular carcinoma.
It is also implicated in neural tube defects (NTD). The human Vang-like 1 gene maps to chromosome 1p11–p13.1.
