Target Information
The Jagged1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophila jagged protein. Human Jagged1 acts as a ligand for the receptor Notch1, which is also a human homolog of the Drosophila Notch receptor.
Mutations that alter the Jagged1 protein cause Alagille syndrome. Jagged1 signaling through Notch1 has also been shown to play a role in hematopoiesis.
