The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the WD40 repeat-containing protein family, which is involved in regulatory functions such as:

This protein functions as a subunit of the SMRT (silencing mediator for retinoid and thyroid receptors) corepressor complex, associated with histone deacetylase 3.
