Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve an antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
The cystatin superfamily includes proteins with multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some members act as cysteine protease inhibitors, while others may lack this function. There are three inhibitory families: type 1 (stefins), type 2 cystatins, and kininogens.
Type 2 cystatins are found in various human fluids and secretions. The cystatin locus on chromosome 20 contains most type 2 cystatin genes and pseudogenes.
This gene encodes a type 2 salivary cysteine peptidase inhibitor, an S-type cystatin highly expressed in saliva, tears, and seminal plasma, potentially providing antibacterial and antiviral protection.
