세포 내 위치 (Cellular Localization)

Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor; Cytoplasmic side; Melanosome; Cytoplasm; Cell projection (lamellipodium, dendrite); Cell junction (synapse); Nucleus.
Located on the inner surface of the plasma membrane, possibly requiring prenylation of the C-terminal cysteine (PubMed:1903399).
Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions (stage I–IV, PubMed:17081065).
Found in the ruffled border of bone-resorbing osteoclasts and localizes to the lamellipodium in a SH3RF1-dependent manner.
In macrophages, cytoplasmic localization increases upon CSF1 stimulation.
Activation by GTP-binding promotes nuclear localization (PubMed:12551911).

Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a GTPase belonging to the RAS superfamily of small GTP-binding proteins.
Members of this superfamily regulate diverse cellular events, including cell growth control, cytoskeletal reorganization, and activation of protein kinases.
Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
