세포 내 위치
Cytoplasm, cytosol, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondrion, outer mitochondrial membrane, neuron projection, synapse (pre- and post-synaptic regions).
Mainly localizes in the cytosol. Co-localizes with SYT11 in neurites and SNCAIP in brainstem Lewy bodies.
Translocates to dysfunctional mitochondria in a PINK1-dependent manner. Mitochondrial localization increases with cellular growth.
배경 (Background)
The precise function of this gene is unknown; however, the encoded protein is a component of a multiprotein E3 ubiquitin ligase complex that mediates the targeting of substrate proteins for proteasomal degradation.
Mutations in this gene are known to cause Parkinson disease and autosomal recessive juvenile Parkinson disease.
Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. Additional splice variants have been described but currently lack transcript support.
