Target Information
The PIAS (protein inhibitor of activated STAT) proteins function as transcriptional coregulators involved in STAT, p53, and steroid hormone signaling pathways. The PIAS family includes at least five conserved genes, including PIAS3. These proteins regulate gene transcription and can act as SUMO E3 ligases. PIAS3 specifically binds to STAT3 following its activation. Elevated PIAS3 expression has been reported in several human cancers such as lung, breast, and brain tumors, but not in anaplastic lymphoma kinase-positive T-cell lymphomas, suggesting distinct roles across tissues and cell types.
