Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry, epitope retrieval with Tris-EDTA pH 9.0 is recommended for FFPE tissue sections.
- Extended primary antibody incubation (16–24 hours) is recommended.
Target Information
CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) are ligands of the T cell costimulatory molecule CD28 and the inhibitory receptor CTLA-4 (CD152). Both are expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells and are essential for T cell activation.
CD80 is rapidly induced on the surface of activated B cells, EBV-transformed B cell lines, Burkitt’s lymphoma cell lines, and follicular B lymphoma cells, as well as T cells and monocytes.
The B-lymphocyte activation antigen B7-1 provides regulatory signals for T lymphocytes through binding to CD28 and CTLA-4.
Diseases associated with CD80 dysfunction include gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
