Target Information
Huntingtin disease, a neurodegenerative disorder, is caused by the expansion of a polymorphic glutamine tract in huntingtin. The Huntingtin Interacting Protein 1 (HIP1) is a proapoptotic, cargo-specific adaptor protein that may be involved in the pathogenesis of Huntingtin disease. It plays a role in clathrin coat recruitment to lipid membranes and may contribute to tumorigenesis by supporting the survival of precancerous and cancerous cells. HIP1 expression is significantly associated with prostate and colon cancer metastasis, making it a potential prognostic factor for these cancers.
