This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PLAT.
Target Information
Tissue-type plasminogen activator (TPA) converts the inactive zymogen plasminogen to plasmin by hydrolyzing a single Arg-Val bond. By controlling plasmin-mediated proteolysis, TPA plays an essential role in tissue remodeling, degradation, cell migration, and other physiological and pathological processes. It binds fibrin with high affinity, increasing catalytic efficiency up to 1000-fold. TPA also interacts with heparin, laminin, fibronectin, mannose receptor, and LRP1, which are involved in its clearance. Additional binding to annexin II and cytokeratin 8 has been observed, and interactions with endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cells enhance plasminogen activation significantly.
