Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. The most common alteration is a chromosomal translocation creating a fusion gene between ALK and nucleophosmin (NPM). The NPM-ALK fusion product is oncogenic. ALK encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It is crucial for neuronal development and function.
