Target Information
GOLPH1, also known as GCP60, was initially identified as a Golgi protein that interacts with the integral membrane protein giantin and is thought to be involved in maintaining Golgi structure. It also interacts with Golgin-160, which can be cleaved by caspases-2, -3, and -7, leading to nuclear localization of Golgin-160 fragments. This interaction is regulated by the oxidation state of Cys-463 within GOLPH1, suggesting a coordinated mechanism for nuclear localization events. Additionally, GOLPH1 interacts with Numb, a cytosolic signaling protein involved in asymmetric cell division, indicating that Golgi fragmentation and reconstitution may regulate Numb signaling and couple cell fate with cell cycle progression.
