NOLA1은 리보솜 생합성과 텔로미어 유지에 필수적인 단백질로, H/ACA small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (H/ACA snoRNP) 복합체의 구성 요소입니다. 이 복합체는 rRNA의 pseudouridylation을 촉매하며, uridine의 이성화 반응을 통해 rRNA의 구조 안정성을 높입니다. 또한 NOLA1은 텔로머레이스 역전사효소(TERT) 복합체의 RNA 구성요소인 TERC의 적절한 처리 및 핵 내 수송에도 관여할 수 있습니다.
