Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) family.
The protein contains a conserved 120 amino acid RGS domain and functions as a GTPase activating protein (GAP), enhancing the hydrolysis of GTP to GDP in G alpha subunits.
This process allows G alpha subunits to reassociate with G beta/gamma subunit heterodimers, forming inactive G-protein heterotrimers and terminating the signal.
Alternative splice variants have been observed but are not fully characterized.
