Target Information
PCGF1 is a component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein BCOR complex, essential for maintaining transcriptional repression of certain genes such as BCL6 and CDKN1A.
It acts as a transcriptional repressor potentially targeted to DNA by BCL6, possibly linked to the PKC signaling pathway.
PCGF1 represses CDKN1A expression via promoter binding dependent on the retinoic acid response element (RARE).
It promotes cell cycle progression and proliferation and may play a role in tumor cell growth by downregulating CDKN1A.
Additionally, PCGF1 is part of a PcG PRC1-like complex that maintains gene repression through chromatin remodeling and histone modification, mediating monoubiquitination of histone H2A (Lys-119).
