eIF3D는 진핵 번역 개시 인자 복합체(eIF3)의 주요 구성 단백질로, 40S 리보솜 소단위체에 결합하여 40S와 60S 소단위체의 해리를 유지하는 역할을 합니다. 또한 eIF2/GTP/methionyl-tRNA 삼중복합체와 상호작용하여 40S 개시 복합체 형성을 촉진하며, eIF3 복합체의 주요 RNA 결합 서브유닛으로 작용합니다. eIF3의 p170 서브유닛과 결합하며, 대부분의 조직에서 발현되고 DNA 손상 시 ATM 또는 ATR에 의해 인산화됩니다.
