Specificity Comments:
The Insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs) are a family of homologous proteins that co-evolved with IGFs. They act as shuttle molecules for soluble IGFs and regulate IGF signaling. IGFBP3 is the most abundant IGFBP, complexed with approximately 80% of serum IGFs. Both IGFBP3 and IGFBP4 are released by dermal fibroblasts in response to incision injury.
Target Information
IGFBP3 belongs to the insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) family. It encodes a protein containing both an IGFBP domain and a thyroglobulin type-I domain. IGFBP3 forms a ternary complex with IGFALS and IGF I or II, circulating in plasma to prolong IGF half-life and modulate receptor interaction. Several isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
