TRPV4는 삼투압 변화에 반응하여 활성화되는 양이온 선택적 채널로, 칼슘 투과성 비선택성 채널입니다. 체내 삼투압 조절 및 기계적 자극 감지에 관여하며, OSM9-like transient receptor potential (OTRPC) 하위군에 속합니다.
TRPV4 유전자 변이는 spondylometaphyseal 및 metatropic dysplasia, hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy type IIC 등의 질환과 관련이 있습니다. 여러 전사 변이체가 존재하며, 각기 다른 isoform을 암호화합니다.
