ABC 유전자는 7개의 하위 계열(ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White)로 구분되며, ABCD2는 ALD 하위 계열에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 peroxisomal fatty acid 및 fatty acyl-CoA의 수송에 관여하며, 기능적 수송체 형성을 위해 다른 half transporter와의 이합체를 필요로 합니다.
