Target Information
The PPHLN1 protein is one of several proteins incorporated into the cornified cell envelope during keratinocyte differentiation in the epidermis. It interacts with periplakin, a precursor of the cornified cell envelope, and may play a role in epithelial differentiation, epidermal integrity, and barrier formation. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been observed.
