Target Information
CYFIP1 is a component of the CYFIP1–EIF4E–FMR1 complex that binds to the mRNA cap and mediates translational repression. In this complex, CYFIP1 acts as an adapter between EIF4E and FMR1, promoting FMR1’s translation repression activity in the brain. It is involved in membrane ruffle and lamellipodia formation, axon outgrowth, and epithelial morphogenesis, and may function as an invasion suppressor in cancers. CYFIP1 binds to F-actin but not RNA.
