Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining genetic integrity. Defects in mismatch repair pathways can lead to microsatellite instability (MSI) and are associated with human carcinogenesis. Mutations in mismatch repair genes, including MLH1, are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPCC). MLH1 forms a heterodimer with PMSH after binding of MSH2 to mismatched DNA, facilitating subsequent repair steps.
