EVC2 유전자는 골 형성과 골격 발달에 관여하는 단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 유전자 및 인접 유전자의 돌연변이는 Ellis-van Creveld 증후군(연골외배엽 이형성증)과 같은 상염색체 열성 골격 이형성증을 유발합니다. 또한 Weyers형 안면사지 이형성증(Curry-Hall 증후군)도 관련 있으며, 사지 및 얼굴 기형을 동반합니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사체 변형이 발생합니다.
