This antibody detects endogenous levels of total TPOR.

Target Information

In 1990, an oncogene v-mpl was identified from murine myeloproliferative leukemia virus that could immortalize bone marrow hematopoietic cells from various lineages.
In 1992, the human homologue c-mpl was cloned, encoding a protein homologous to members of the hematopoietic receptor superfamily.
Anti-sense oligodeoxynucleotides of c-mpl inhibited megakaryocyte colony formation.
The ligand for c-mpl, thrombopoietin, cloned in 1994, was shown to be the major regulator of megakaryocytopoiesis and platelet formation.
The c-mpl gene encodes CD110, a 635 amino acid transmembrane protein with two extracellular cytokine receptor domains and two intracellular box motifs.
TPO-R deficient mice exhibit severe thrombocytopenia, highlighting the critical role of CD110 and thrombopoietin in megakaryocyte and platelet formation.
Upon thrombopoietin binding, CD110 dimerizes, activating JAK, STAT, MAPK families, adaptor protein Shc, and receptor tyrosine phosphorylation.
