Target Information
NEIL2 단백질은 산화 또는 돌연변이 유발 인자에 의해 손상된 DNA의 염기 절제 복구(Base Excision Repair)에 관여합니다.
5-hydroxyuracil 및 산화된 cytosine 유도체에 대한 DNA glycosylase 활성을 가지며, mismatched double-stranded DNA(DNA bubbles)에 대한 선호성이 있습니다.
Thymine glycol, 2-hydroxyadenine, hypoxanthine, 8-oxoguanine에 대해서는 낮은 또는 거의 없는 활성을 보입니다.
또한 AP (apurinic/apyrimidinic) lyase 활성을 가지며, 제거된 염기 부위에서 DNA 가닥에 절단을 유도합니다.
β-δ elimination을 통해 DNA backbone을 절단하여 3′ 및 5′ 인산기를 가진 단일 가닥 절단(single-strand break)을 생성합니다.
