Product Specific Information

MA5-17619 targets SEPT5/CDCre-1 in ELISA, FACS, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human samples.
The MA5-17619 immunogen is human CDCrel-1/SEPT5.

Target Information

This gene belongs to the septin gene family of nucleotide binding proteins, originally described in yeast as cell division cycle regulatory proteins. Septins are highly conserved in yeast, Drosophila, and mouse and regulate cytoskeletal organization.
Disruption of septin function disturbs cytokinesis and results in multinucleate or polyploid cells.
The gene is mapped to 22q11, a region frequently deleted in DiGeorge and velocardiofacial syndromes.
Translocations involving the MLL gene and this gene have been reported in acute myeloid leukemia patients.
Two transcripts (2.2 kb and 3.5 kb) are observed; the 2.2 kb form uses a non-consensus polyA signal (AACAAT), while the 3.5 kb form uses the consensus polyA signal of GP1BB.
An alternatively spliced transcript variant with a different 5′ end has also been identified but not fully characterized.
