Target Information
Kininogen-1 (KNG1), also known as BDK or bradykinin, is a protein encoded by the KNG1 gene in humans, located at 3q27.3.
The KNG1 gene undergoes alternative splicing to produce two proteins: high-molecular-weight kininogen (HMWK) and low-molecular-weight kininogen (LMWK).
- HMWK is essential for blood coagulation and assembly of the kallikrein-kinin system.
- LMWK is not involved in coagulation but participates in physiological processes related to the kinin-kallikrein system.
KNG1 peptides cause various physiological effects and are integral to both blood coagulation and kinin-kallikrein systems.
