Target Information
PAGE-3 (prostate-associated gene 3 protein), also known as GAGED1 (putative G antigen family D member 1), is a 113 amino acid protein belonging to the GAGE family.
The PAGE3 gene spans approximately 6,432 bases and maps to human chromosome Xp11.21. Chromosome X consists of about 153 million base pairs and nearly 1,000 genes.
Normal male development results from one X and one Y chromosome, while two X chromosomes lead to normal female development.
Abnormal numbers or combinations of sex chromosomes can lead to conditions such as Turner’s syndrome, Klinefelter’s syndrome, and Triple X syndrome.
Color blindness, hemophilia, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy are well-known X-linked conditions affecting males more frequently due to their single X chromosome.
