Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on gamma-epsilon and delta-epsilon dimers of the human CD3 complex, which is part of the multisubunit T cell receptor complex (CD3/TCR) expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes and mature thymocytes.
Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating the surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by genes on human chromosome 11. These subunits associate with cytoplasmic signal transduction molecules via a double tyrosine-based motif. CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells. Altered CD3 expression may be observed in some autoimmune diseases. Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
