Target Information
The ELOVL4 gene encodes a membrane-bound protein belonging to the ELO family, which participates in the biosynthesis of fatty acids. Expression of this protein in photoreceptor cells of the retina is consistent with its association with Stargardt-like macular dystrophy (STGD3) and autosomal dominant Stargardt-like macular dystrophy (ADMD), also known as autosomal dominant atrophic macular degeneration.
