Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MBL2.
Target Information
MBL2 is a calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. It binds mannose, fucose, and N-acetylglucosamine on various microorganisms and activates the lectin complement pathway.
It also binds to late apoptotic cells, apoptotic blebs, and necrotic cells—facilitating their uptake by macrophages—but not to early apoptotic cells. MBL2 may also bind DNA.
