Target Information
EFHD1, also known as Swiprosin-2 or SWS2, is an EF-hand and coiled-coil-containing adaptor protein identified in a neuronal cell line derived from the cerebellum of an adult p53- mouse. Subsequent studies indicated no difference in normal mice.
EFHD1 mRNA is widely expressed, with brain expression increasing from postnatal to adult stages. In situ hybridization shows expression in neurons but not in white matter of cerebellum and cerebrum.
EFHD1 is highly expressed in testes, ovary, and kidney collecting ducts, suggesting roles in gametogenesis and water reabsorption in non-neuronal cells.
