Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
Bromodeoxyuridine (5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine, BrdU) is a synthetic nucleoside analogue of thymidine.
BrdU is commonly used for detecting proliferating cells in living tissues. It can be incorporated into newly synthesized DNA of replicating cells (during the S phase), substituting for thymidine during DNA replication.
Antibodies specific for BrdU are used to detect incorporated BrdU, indicating cells actively replicating DNA.
Binding of the antibody requires denaturation of DNA, typically by acid or heat exposure.
