Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are part of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, which functions in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are grouped into three classes:

1. Fbws – containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls – containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs – containing other protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

This protein belongs to the Fbws class and contains multiple WD-40 repeats. It is homologous to Xenopus bTrCP1, yeast Met30, Neurospora Scon2, and Drosophila Slimb proteins. It interacts with HIV-1 Vpu, linking CD4 to the proteolytic machinery, and associates with phosphorylated IkappaBalpha and beta-catenin destruction motifs, influencing NF-kappaB activation and beta-catenin inhibition.
