CPA1, also known as Carboxypeptidase A1, is a 419 amino acid secreted monomeric protein highly expressed in pancreatic tissue. It functions as a zinc-dependent pancreatic exopeptidase that catalyzes the release of C-terminal amino acids from various proteins, playing a crucial role in protein digestion and degradation. CPA1 may also be involved in zymogen inhibition, helping to regulate enzyme activation pathways. Abnormal CPA1 levels are linked to pancreatic cancer, suggesting roles in tumor progression or suppression.
