CSF1R is a tyrosine kinase transmembrane receptor and a member of the CSF1/PDGF receptor family.
It plays a crucial role in the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic precursor cells, particularly mononuclear phagocytes such as macrophages and monocytes.
CSF1R promotes the release of proinflammatory chemokines in response to IL34 and CSF1, contributing to innate immunity and inflammatory responses.
Mutations in the CSF1R gene have been associated with a predisposition to myeloid malignancy.
