Tryptase는 serine protease 계열 단백질로, 주로 비만세포(mast cell)에 존재합니다. 염증 및 조직 복구 과정에서 다른 단백질을 절단 및 활성화하여 면역 반응 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 혈압 조절에 관여하며, 천식, 알레르기, 심혈관 질환 등 다양한 질환과 관련이 있습니다. 구조적으로 4개의 동일한 소단위체로 이루어진 사량체(tetramer) 형태이며, 전구효소(proenzyme) 형태에서 절단되어 활성화됩니다.
