Target Information

Ramucirumab is a human monoclonal antibody (IgG1) directed against vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), a type II transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor expressed on endothelial cells.
By binding to VEGFR2, ramucirumab blocks the interaction of VEGF-A, VEGF-C, and VEGF-D ligands, thereby inhibiting receptor phosphorylation and downstream signaling related to endothelial cell proliferation, permeability, and migration.
VEGFR2-mediated signaling is essential for angiogenesis and is implicated in cancer progression, making VEGFR2 a key therapeutic target.
Unlike other VEGFR2-directed agents, ramucirumab binds a specific extracellular epitope, blocking all VEGF ligands from receptor binding.
Ramucirumab is indicated for research related to advanced gastric or gastro-esophageal junction adenocarcinoma and angiogenesis inhibition mechanisms.
