Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation.
It forms a heterodimer with the transcription factor MAX, binding to E-box DNA sequences to regulate gene transcription.
Gene amplification is common in various human cancers, and translocations are linked to Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Translation can initiate from both a non-AUG (CUG) and an AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
