Target Information
Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase required for normal actin cytoskeleton organization. It supports polarized epithelial cell formation by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules, facilitating vesicle transport, and regulating MAP4 binding to tubulin. Septin 2 is essential for mitotic progression, forming a scaffold at the spindle midplane to maintain CENPE localization and ensure chromosome congression. It also contributes to anaphase chromosome segregation, spindle elongation, ciliogenesis, and collective cell movement.
