Product Specific Information
PA1-24894 detects UCP1 from human, mouse, and rat samples, and does not cross-react with UCP2 or UCP3.
It is expected to cross-react with bovine, canine, macaque monkey, rabbit, and ovine due to sequence homology (93–100% conserved).
By Western blot, this antibody detects a band of approximately 32 kDa.
Positive Control: Brown adipose tissue.
Target Information
Mitochondrial uncoupling proteins (UCPs) are mitochondrial anion carrier proteins that separate oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis, dissipating energy as heat.
UCPs facilitate anion transfer across mitochondrial membranes and regulate proton flow, reducing membrane potential in mammalian cells.
This gene is expressed specifically in brown adipose tissue, which functions to produce heat.
