Target Information

TCF12 (also known as HTF4) is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) E-protein family that recognizes the consensus E-box sequence (CANNTG). It is expressed in various tissues including skeletal muscle, thymus, and lymphocytes, and plays a role in regulating lineage-specific gene expression via heterodimer formation with other bHLH E-proteins.
TCF12, together with E2A, is essential for blocking thymocyte proliferation prior to pre-TCR expression and is critical for proper T cell differentiation. It also contributes to the development of invariant natural killer T cells.
