Product Specific Information
This antibody detects HEF1 in human, mouse, and rat samples. It does not recognize p130cas and has not been tested on Sin1. The antibody primarily detects HEF1 localized at focal adhesion sites.
Target Information
HEF-1 is a multifunctional protein involved in integrin-based signaling that influences cell motility, growth, apoptosis, and oncogenic transformation. The Cas family of docking proteins are substrates of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and Src family tyrosine kinases, both key targets in drug development. HEF1 overproduction increases expression of proteins linked to motility and invasiveness, such as metalloproteinases, MLCK, p160ROCK, and ErbB1, and mediates apoptosis in epithelial-derived cell lines like MCF7 and HeLa. Overexpression of BCAR1 (p130Cas), a related protein, has been associated with tamoxifen resistance, underscoring the importance of this protein family in cancer prognosis.
