이 유전자는 WD-repeat 단백질의 고도로 보존된 하위군에 속하는 핵 단백질을 암호화합니다.
이 단백질은 히스톤 아세틸화 및 크로마틴 조립에 관련된 단백질 복합체의 구성 요소이며, Mi-2 복합체의 일부로서 크로마틴 리모델링 및 히스톤 탈아세틸화 관련 전사 억제에 관여합니다.
또한 전사 억제 복합체의 일부로서, 세포 증식을 조절하는 레티노블라스토마 단백질과 직접 결합하는 여러 세포 단백질 중 하나입니다.
E2F 반응성 유전자의 전사 억제에도 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 세 가지 전사 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
