Target Information
MYO18A may link Golgi membranes to the cytoskeleton and participate in the tensile force required for vesicle budding from the Golgi. It may play a role in Golgi membrane trafficking and contribute to maintaining the flattened shape of the Golgi apparatus. Additionally, in concert with LURAP1 and CDC42BPA/CDC42BPB, it has been implicated in modulating lamellar actomyosin retrograde flow essential for cell protrusion and migration. MYO18A may also be involved in maintaining stromal cell architectures necessary for cell-to-cell contact and in regulating trafficking, expression, and activation of innate immune receptors on macrophages. It plays a role in suppressing inflammatory responsiveness of macrophages by modulating CD14 trafficking.
