Target Information
MAP2K3 (MEK3) is a dual-specificity protein kinase involved in cellular signal transduction pathways. It phosphorylates and activates MAPK14/p38-MAPK, and can be activated by insulin. MAP2K3 is necessary for glucose transporter expression, and its activation through RAS oncogene expression leads to constitutive MAPK14 activation and oncogenic transformation of primary cells. Inhibition of MAP2K3 is associated with the pathogenesis of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported for MEK3.
