Product Specific Information

This MR6F3 antibody recognizes mouse CD206 (Macrophage Mannose Receptor, MMR or MRC1).
CD206 is a 175-kDa type I integral membrane glycoprotein receptor expressed in macrophages, dendritic cells, and endothelial cells. It belongs to the C-type lectin family with domains binding sulfated glycoproteins, collagens, and sugars such as mannose and fucose.

CD206 mediates phagocytic and endocytic uptake of various antigens and plays key roles in immune defense and regulation. A soluble form is found in macrophage culture supernatants and mouse serum. CD206 is a marker of M2 macrophages, induced by IL-4, IL-13, M-CSF, IL-6, IL-10, and glucocorticoids; down-regulated by TNF-α, IFN-γ, TGF-β, and LPS.

Only a small fraction of CD206 is surface-expressed; intracellular staining is recommended.

Applications Tested: Tested with Intracellular Fixation & Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product # 88-8824-00).
Use ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Fixation: Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333-54) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.

Target Information

CD206 (MSR, Mannose receptor, MRC1) is a 175 kDa transmembrane pattern recognition receptor.
Predominantly expressed in tissue macrophages, dendritic cells, endothelial cells, and sperm cells.
Involved in innate and adaptive immune responses, recognition and uptake of macromolecules such as modified lipoproteins, AGEs, and amyloid β-protein.

CD206 dysfunction is implicated in atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, leprosy, and Gaucher’s disease.
The gene encodes three isoforms (types 1–3) via alternative splicing; types 1 and 2 mediate LDL endocytosis, while type 3 acts as a dominant negative regulator.
