Target Information
MYO3A (MYO3 alpha) serine/threonine kinase belongs to the myosin superfamily, categorized into conventional (class II) and unconventional myosins (classes I and III–XV) based on their variable C-terminal cargo-binding domains.
Class III myosins, such as MYO3A, possess a kinase domain N-terminal to the conserved motor domains and are expressed in photoreceptors.
MYO3A plays an important role in human hearing, and mutations in MYO3A are associated with nonsyndromic progressive hearing loss.
It is highly expressed in the retina and cochlea.
